Lucky Charm

Call for collections

The picture shows the lucky charm of Jan Sauerwald, Director of GRIMMWELT Kassel. A golden pendant with the inscription "It's all downhill from here on".

Be a contributor to the special exhibition and introduce us to your lucky charm!

"In old times, when wishing still helped one, there lived a king...", it says in the fairy tale "The Frog Prince". Our next temporary exhibition shows: Wishing still helps today! In fairy tales, good fortune beckons if you make the right wish at the right time. But wishes are not just to do with fairies. They are a deeply human and existential phenomenon. They give us strength and motivation and are a motor for change.

In fairy tales they are magical things, animals and little helpers. In real life, they are often symbolic objects like lucky beetles or angel figurines.

* The exhibition of the VÖGELE CULTURE CENTRE (CH - Pfäffikon SZ), will come to Kassel in November 2022 in a version specially adapted for GRIMMWELT Kassel.

The team of the GRIMMWELT Kassel is on the lookout for good-luck charms, talismans and mascots, together with your stories that go with them.

Fill up the form about your lucky charm and send it by 22 July 2022 to! You can also hand in a printed copy at the GRIMMWELT reception desk.

The GRIMMWELT team will look at all the contributions and make a selection. If you have been chosen, they will contact you in August to arrange for the presentation of your lucky charm in the exhibition from November 2022 to May 2023.
